How the fuel cost calculator works
The fuel a trip needs is the distance divided by your fuel economy — miles ÷ mpg for gallons, or km ÷ (km/L) for litres — while an L/100km figure multiplies: distance ÷ 100 × L/100km. Multiply the fuel used by the price per unit and you have the trip cost. The tool supports US mpg, km/L and L/100km so you can use whatever your car and country quote, and you enter the price in your own currency, so no exchange rates or location data are involved.
Use your real-world economy, not the official figure, for an honest estimate — city driving, cold weather, roof boxes, heavy loads and high speeds all raise consumption. For a return journey, double the distance. The result is in whatever currency you enter the price in.

How do I calculate the fuel cost of a trip?
Work out the fuel used (distance ÷ mpg, or distance ÷ 100 × L/100km), then multiply by the price per gallon or litre. For 300 miles at 30 mpg with fuel at 3.50: 10 gallons × 3.50 = 35.
How much fuel will I use?
Divide distance by fuel economy for distance-per-fuel units (mpg, km/L), or multiply distance ÷ 100 by an L/100km figure. 500 km at 8 L/100km uses 40 litres. The tool shows fuel used alongside the cost.
Does this work with L/100km and mpg?
Yes — pick your units: US mpg with miles, or km/L or L/100km with kilometres. The calculator handles the different maths for distance-per-fuel versus fuel-per-distance automatically.
What currency does it use?

How do I estimate cost for a round trip?
Double the one-way distance before calculating, or simply enter the total there-and-back distance. Remember real economy is often worse than the sticker figure, so pad the estimate a little for a safety margin.
