🏷️ Barcode Generator (EAN, UPC, Code 128, Code 39)

Generate a scannable barcode — EAN-13, UPC-A, Code 128, Code 39 and more — with the correct check digit computed for you, and download it as crisp SVG or PNG.

EAN, UPC, EAN-8 and ITF-14 include the correct mod-10 check digit automatically — enter one digit short and it's computed for you. Vector SVG export is print-crisp. 🔒 Generated in your browser; internal SKUs never leave your device.

How the barcode generator (ean, upc, code 128, code 39) works

Pick a barcode type and enter the value; the tool draws a standards-compliant 1-D barcode with quiet zones and the human-readable number underneath. For retail symbologies (EAN-13, UPC-A, EAN-8, ITF-14) it computes and appends the mod-10 check digit automatically — enter one digit short and it’s completed for you — and Code 128 chooses the optimal code set with its mod-103 checksum.

The exact part a chatbot can’t do: a valid check digit and a scannable bar pattern. The vector SVG export is print-crisp at any size, and everything is generated on your device, so confidential SKUs and inventory codes never leave your browser.

Frequently asked questions

What barcode types can I generate?

EAN-13 and UPC-A (retail products), EAN-8 (small packages), Code 128 (any text, used in shipping/logistics), Code 39 (alphanumeric, industrial), and ITF-14 (shipping cartons).

What is a check digit and does it add one?

It’s a final digit computed from the others to catch scan errors. EAN, UPC, EAN-8 and ITF-14 use a mod-10 check digit — this tool computes and appends it automatically, so you can enter the code one digit short.

Which barcode should I use for a retail product?

EAN-13 outside North America and UPC-A within it — both are GS1 retail standards. You’ll usually get the number from GS1; this tool renders it with the correct check digit.

Can I download a vector barcode?

Yes — export as SVG for print-crisp scaling at any size, or PNG for quick use. Vector is best for labels and packaging.

Is Code 128 different from a QR code?

Yes — Code 128 is a 1-D (linear) barcode of bars and spaces, read by laser and camera scanners, common in shipping. QR codes are 2-D and hold much more data. Use the QR generators for URLs, WiFi and contacts.

Are my codes uploaded?

No — barcodes are generated entirely in your browser, so internal SKUs stay private.
