How the okr / goal tracker works

OKR — Objectives and Key Results — pairs an inspiring, qualitative goal (the Objective) with a few measurable outcomes that prove you're getting there (the Key Results). Add an objective, give each key result a starting value, a target and a current value, and the tool shows a progress bar for each and an overall roll-up for the objective. As you update the current numbers, the bars move, so a glance tells you which goals are on track and which are stalling. Saved in your browser.

The craft of OKRs is in the key results: they must be measurable and slightly uncomfortable — if you're certain you'll hit them, they're targets, not stretch goals. Three to five key results per objective is the sweet spot; more and none of them get attention. And key results measure outcomes ("open rate 45%"), not activities ("send more emails") — that distinction is what keeps OKRs honest. Everything stays on your device.

Frequently asked questions

What are OKRs?

Objectives and Key Results — a goal-setting framework. The Objective is a qualitative, motivating goal; the Key Results are 2–5 measurable outcomes that show whether you're achieving it. Progress on the key results rolls up to show progress on the objective.

How is progress calculated?

For each key result, progress is how far the current value has moved from its start toward its target. The objective's progress is the average of its key results' progress, shown as a bar.

What makes a good key result?

It must be measurable (a number, not an activity) and ambitious enough that success isn't certain. "Increase trial sign-ups to 500" is a key result; "work on marketing" is not.

How many key results per objective?

Three to five. Fewer can be too narrow; more and you lose focus, since everything supposedly important means nothing is.

Is my data private?

Yes — your objectives are saved only in your browser and never uploaded. Export JSON to back up or move devices.
