How the glitch text generator (zalgo) works
Zalgo text works by stacking Unicode "combining marks" — the accents and diacritics normally used to modify a letter — on top of each character, many at a time. Piling them above, through and below each letter creates the dripping, glitched look. The madness slider controls how many marks are added; the up/mid/down toggles choose where they stack. Everything is generated in your browser.
Because it is built from real combining characters, the glitch survives copy-and-paste — but some apps cap how many marks they render, so very intense settings can look calmer once pasted, and a few platforms strip combining marks entirely.
