How the pdf n-up (multiple pages per sheet) works
The tool takes your pages in order and places them, scaled down, into a grid on each output sheet — two side by side for 2-up, or a two-by-two block for 4-up. Pages are embedded whole (not turned into images) with pdf-lib, so text stays sharp and selectable. The number of output sheets is the page count divided by pages-per-sheet, rounded up. Everything happens locally in your browser.
N-up (or "multiple pages per sheet") is great for saving paper, printing slide handouts, proofreading a document at a glance, or making booklets. Print the result at 100% / "actual size" (not "fit to page") so the scaling stays correct. This arranges pages in reading order left-to-right, top-to-bottom; it isn't saddle-stitch booklet page ordering.
