How the interactive periodic table works

The table lays out every element in the standard 18-column form, with the lanthanides and actinides in their own rows. Each cell is coloured by the scheme you choose — element category, physical state at room temperature, orbital block (s/p/d/f) or an electronegativity heat-map. Click a cell to open a detail card with the atomic number and mass, electron configuration, melting and boiling points (in K and °C), density, electronegativity, atomic radius, discovery year and a plain-English summary. Search narrows the highlight to matching elements, and full-screen mode uses the whole display.

All data — IUPAC standard atomic weights and standard physical properties (CRC/PubChem) — ships with the page, so the table works offline and nothing you search is sent anywhere. Pair it with the electron-configuration and molar-mass tools.

Frequently asked questions

How do I see an element’s details?

Click its cell. A card opens with the atomic number and mass, category, group and period, electron configuration, phase, melting and boiling points, density, electronegativity, atomic radius, discovery year and a short summary.

What do the colours mean?

By default, each colour is an element category (alkali metal, noble gas, metalloid, and so on) — see the legend. You can switch to colour by physical state, by orbital block (s/p/d/f), or by an electronegativity heat-map.

Can I search the periodic table?

Yes — type an element name, symbol or atomic number and the matching elements stay highlighted while the rest dim.

Why are two rows separated at the bottom?

Those are the lanthanides (57–71) and actinides (89–103), the f-block. They are pulled out below to keep the main table a manageable 18 columns wide, following the standard convention.

Is the data accurate and current?

It uses IUPAC standard atomic weights and widely cited physical properties (melting/boiling points, density, electronegativity). Values for the superheavy synthetic elements are shown as unknown where they have not been measured.

Does it work on mobile and offline?

Yes — the table scrolls horizontally on small screens, works full-screen, and runs entirely in your browser, so it keeps working with no connection.
